FIA’s July updates regarding hours, donations, and services

As of November 16, 2020, Faith in Action is adjusting our initial Covid-19 response as we continue to respond to safety precautions. Please expect continued adjustments to hours and service levels depending on current circumstances. Until further notice, always call before visiting FIA (734-475-3305) to make sure we are able to serve you.

November: Closed Wed-Fri during Thanksgiving Week

December/Holiday Schedule: closed Dec. 19, 2020-January 5, 2021. Leave a phone message if you have a food/financial emergency during this time.

For Food Pantry Shopping:

Call (734)475-3305 to place a phone order and schedule for curbside pickup. Please allow 6 hours or more for pickup scheduling – some may be available quicker, but planning ahead will help everyone. New option! We can now pull your past order and just make changes!

Donations

Donations of Food: Non-perishable food can be left next to the front door anytime during working hours.  We check for donations often, but you can also call to let us know you left something. You must contact FIA staff before bringing perishable food to make sure we have appropriate storage available.

Donations of Clothing – No clothing donations are being accepted until some time in early 2021. Please do not leave items outside our building. (Reasons: we do not have shoppers right now, we do not have storage right now, we need space for Christmas distribution and annual maintenance and cleaning. It’s not you, it’s us, and we appreciate your support in this request.)

Clothes Shopping

Clothing shopping will be by appointment again sometime after the new year. Once we post that clothing shopping is reopening, please call during open hours to schedule a 30 minute shopping appointment. Shoppers must shop alone, complete an entry questionnaire, take a temperature, and wear a mask at all times.  Please bring a mask, but if you do not have one, one will be provided to you. If you are unable to wear a mask, you are not able to shop in our store at this time.

Interested in Volunteering (or have in the past)?

Faith in Action relies on well over 100 volunteers per year to accomplish all of our programming and services. Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, we are currently working with a very small number of volunteers who self-selected, and were needed based on experience, risk level, health status, and ability to move, lift, and interact with the programs and needs of our organization at this time. Volunteer training opportunities are very limited at this time, so NO new volunteers will be added right now.  We hope new volunteers can be added to our roster sometime in the near future. If you are not already a volunteer and are interested in becoming one in the future, please complete this online Volunteer Interest Form and we will hang on to the information until it is needed, or if we need additional help.
